This is a smart move. Even one depth charge can cripple a U-Boat, if it explodes close enough. Dropping a wide pattern of ten charges greatly increases your chance of a hit. After your depth charges explode your ship circles back over the contact area. Your ASDIC operator has lost contact and it looks as if the U-Boat has escaped - if it was a U-Boat at all. Your captain is very aware that he has pushed his luck geting approval from the escort commander. Your ship has been off station for over an hour, and there's no clear sign of success.
What should your captain do? A. Keep circling the area. Wait just a little longer for something to happenB. Order the ship to return to its escort position |
