Naval Headlines: December, 1940
HMCS St Laurent and Saguenay are escorting convoy from Gibraltar. Roughly 200 km west of Ireland the convoy suffers a series
of torpedo attacks. Saguenay is torpedoed by an Italian submarine. Its bows were wrecked and 21 men killed. Saguenay was able
to return to harbour in Britain safely. St. Laurent rescues crew of SS Conch, then rescues crew of HMS Forfor ( armed cruiser)
also torpedoed and sunk.
