Training Information: Organization of the Canadian Army

Corps. A Corps consists of two to four Divisions. Approximately 25,000 -50,000 men in total. Commanded by a Lieutenant-General

Division. Each Division consisted of three Brigades, roughly 12,000 men total. Commanded by a Major-General

Brigade. Each Brigade consisted of three Battalions, roughly 3,000 men. Commanded by a Brigadier.

Battalion. Each Battalion consisted of roughly 1000 soldiers and was broken down into Companies. Battalions had a headquarters company, a support company, and multiple rifle companies. Commanded by a Lieutenant-Colonel

Companies have roughly 200 men. Each Company consists of up to five Platoons. Commanded by a Captain.

Platoons consist of roughly 40 men, or four Sections. They are commanded by a Lieutenant

Sections are the smallest organizational unit. They consist of 10 soldiers under the command of a Corporal.
