Training Information: Units within a Canadian Division

There's more than just lots of men and rifles in a modern army, Recruit!
You need to know the main units and their roles before you go Overseas.

Signals - responsible for all communications and communications systems

Engineers - responsible for all construction projects - roads, bridges, rail-lines, planning defensive works

Rifles - main infantry fighting forces

Armour - units using mechanized armoured vehicles, primarily tanks

Reconnaissance - long- range scouting forces, often using lightly armed scout vehicles

Mechanized - units using vehicles for transportation and attack

Artillery - main batteries, anti-aircraft, anti-tank batteries

Ordinance - responsible for all supplies and equipment needs, including maps, ammunition

Command/Headquarters - including Headquarters Defense

Provost - military police responsible for enforcing the military Code of Conduct and General Orders

Service - responsible for all ground transportation requirements
