Operational Test #1

Thirty minutes into your flight, Number 1 engine is heating up. There's too much pressure on the gearing and the engine is losing oil pressure quickly. If the engine runs much longer it will seize up into a solid mass of iron.

What should you do?

A. Shut the engine down, feather the prop to minimize wind resistance and continue the mission on three engines.

B. Shut the engine down, feather the prop to minimize wind resistance and head for base. A Halifax is underpowered with four engines. Flying on three engines is extremely dangerous so land as soon as possible

C. Shut the engine down , feather the prop to minimize wind resistance and head back to England. Drop your bomb load in the sea and circle the base to burn off fuel to lighten your plane. An empty plane is much lighter and easier to land safely.
