The best response is C. A Halifax on three engines is seriously underpowered, but landing "heavy" with a full load of fuel and bombs is extremely dangerous. You need to do everything possible to make your landing safer. Aircraft are much easier to replace than aircrew!

Operational Test #2

USAAF Research showed that less than ½ of all bombs land within 1000 metres of the target. Individual bombardiers do not know how to use delicate and complex bomb sights properly. What can be done to improve this poor result?

What should you do?

A. Have one Master bombardier fly at the front in a pathfinder aircraft. He will make the decision when to drop bombs for the entire formation.

B. Fly lower and slower. Haste makes waste. Take your time and do the job right the first time.

C. Design and build a better bombsight. Better technology will solve the problem.

D. Only drop bombs in daylight when you can see the target clearly and adjust the bomb sight properly.
