SFTS Test#4

Once you have mastered take-offs and landings you are introduced to the complexities
of night flying. Night flying is many times more difficult than daylight flying because
of the much poorer visibility. Which of these are significant problems for pilots in night flying?

1. It is much more difficult to see obstacles on ground, such as buildings, hills, high trees,
and much more difficult to judge distances from your plane to an obstacle
2. Most pilots are more likely to be more tired at night - which affects their reactions and
  thinking skills
3. Most pilots have more difficulty reading aircraft instruments at night
4. Military planes are not equipped with night time warning lights. It can be very difficult
to see other planes at night, or to judge your distance from them.
5. It is much more difficult to judge distances accurately at night. This seriously affects
your ability to begin your final landing descent at the correct distance
6. It is extremely difficult to see or even to find run-ways at night, they are only lit by
paraffin lamps - like oversized candles.
7. All six of these are major problems with night flying
