Historical Note: The North African convoys, 1943

The Allied invasion on North Africa, and the planned invasion of Sicily and Italy creates two major new convoy routes, from the USA and Britain to North Africa. The UK-North Africa convoys pass through the Bay of Biscay and then along the shore of North Africa. This brings them within easy of German and Italian shore based aircraft. The German are experimenting with radio controlled gilder bombs nicknamed "Fritz X" as well as using more conventional bombers and torpedo planes.
