It finally happened. You have successfully completed your training! In less than a week you will be assigned to active duty on a Canadian warship! Your class is in the mood to celebrate and to break a few rules. Who knows when you'll next be able to enjoy a night out? Your instructors drop some heavy hints that they'll turn a blind eye to the celebrating so long as no civilians get hurt. When the order for "lights out" comes you sneak out of the barracks, cross the training fields and then hike down the road to the closest bar. Soon your whole class is there, drinking hard and trying to impress the local ladies.

The fun goes on well past closing time and at one point you'd swear several of your instructors were enjoying themselves as well. Sometime after three AM the bartender shuts the bar down. You and your buddies stagger back to base, walking right by the Shore Patrol, who ignore you.

As you head towards your barracks an officer steps out of the shadows. It's an uppity British officer who is on exchange. He starts yelling at everyone and threatening them with punishment at tomorrow's Captain's Mast. Half way through his threats you decided you'd had enough. You tell your buddies to grab the jerk. Together you grab him and lift him onto your shoulders. The fool keeps on yelling threats so you carry him down to the dock. Two guys grab him by the arms and two by the ankles and you swing him back and forth and toss him far out into the ice cold water. As the officer thrashes about you all have a good laugh and walk away - leaving him to swim to the ladder and climb out of the freezing water.

"Reveille" comes far too early the next morning. Everyone is hung over and in pain but it was worth it. You feel you had a great send-off from training camp.
