You complete your application form for the Royal Canadian Air Force at your local Manning Depot.
The recruiting officer gives you some bad news. The RCAF is not ready to train large numbers of air
crew. The British Commonwealth Air Training Program (BCATP) is in its initial start-up stage. It may
be a year or more before they can accept your application. You decide to wait, rather than join another
service. While young men around you are entering the Army or Navy, you continue to work at your job,
keep up to date on war news, and wait for your call up notice.
