Over 62,000 Canadians died in the First World War, out of over 600,000
who served on our Armed Forces. There are major military cemeteries across
northern France, and Belgium with Canadian dead from the war. A further
175,000 were seriously wounded or crippled for life. These individuals helped
defend our freedom at the cost of their lives.
